In recent years, there has been a significant increase in the number of companies that are looking for ways to make their logistics operations more sustainable. This is the result of greater awareness of the negative impacts that a traditional supply chain can have on the environment.

Therefore, the reduction of carbon emissions, optimization of natural resource use, and the development of reverse logistics strategies have become a priority for many organizations.

The reduction of carbon emissions is one of the main goals of sustainable companies. Transportation is one of the logistics activities that generates the most $\text{CO}_2$ emissions, contributing to global warming and climate change. To combat this issue, companies have adopted various measures, such as the Tempo Certo system, which handles discharge scheduling and yard management. This way, we reduce truck queues in the yards, many of which, like refrigerated trucks for example, need to stay running to maintain the cargo temperature.

And what is the impact of this choice?

It helps minimize carbon emissions since less fuel is consumed. Furthermore, the optimization of natural resource use is also a concern for sustainable companies. This involves adopting practices such as material reuse, conscious water use, and the implementation of more efficient technologies in storage, transportation, and yard management.

To enhance sustainability, many organizations are also investing in reverse logistics strategies. This means the company takes responsibility for the return and proper treatment of products and packaging after consumption. These initiatives have become increasingly common as companies recognize that it is indeed possible to reconcile profitability with environmental responsibility. After all, caring for the planet also means caring for the future of the business.

Reverse logistics has gained increasing prominence as a sustainable strategy in companies. It is the process of returning products, packaging, and materials to the production cycle at the end of their useful life. This practice allows for the recycling, reuse, or proper disposal of items, preventing them from becoming harmful waste to the environment. By implementing reverse logistics, companies are able to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfills, in addition to generating value for the organization, either through the recovery of materials for reuse or the recapture of the residual value of the products.

In conclusion, sustainability in logistics operations has become a growing concern for companies. The reduction of carbon emissions, the optimization of natural resource use, and the development of logistics strategies are some of the initiatives adopted to achieve more sustainable practices. These actions not only contribute to the preservation of the environment but also provide economic benefits and strategic positioning in the market. Therefore, it is essential for companies to be aware of the importance of sustainability and seek ways to implement more sustainable practices in their supply chains.
