Grupo Koch automates yard management for over 160 daily vehicles using Tempo Certo

Considered one of Brazil's largest retail groups and Santa Catarina's biggest supermarket chain, Grupo Koch has over 80 stores, is present in 36 cities in Santa Catarina, and operates through the Super Koch retail chain and the Komprão wholesale chain. To maintain the supply of the entire network, the company has been investing in technology and recently implemented an automation project for yard management using the Tempo Certo solution.

The project began at the distribution center in Tijucas, which spans over 50,000 square meters and concentrates the group's entire produce, chilled, and dry goods operation, with 80% of the order volume passing through the location. “Daily, we receive around 160 vehicles and dispatch about 170 trucks. Until then, the entire process of scheduling product deliveries/receipts was done using spreadsheets, which generated bottlenecks, delays, and a lack of visibility regarding the yard schedule and team productivity,” explains Koch Group's supply executive, Diogo Alexandre.

The professional states that the company was looking for a technological solution that would overcome these problems, with the necessary structure to support the company’s projected growth, in addition to being easy to use. “Tempo Certo proved to be an ideal solution because it already had a ready-made and robust platform comparable to major players, speeding up implementation and results,” he details.

Using the platform, Grupo Koch unified appointment management in a single environment, eliminating the need for delivery date confirmations via email or WhatsApp. “Now the supplier logs in and makes the appointment request, and confirmation is automatic. With this, we have more control and dimensioning of the daily yard demand. With the visibility of the receipt schedule, we strategically organize the delivery routine by sector, with targetable volume goals per department, maintaining balanced supply, without wasting time, delays, or losing merchandise in stock,” explains Diogo.

The Tempo Certo solution, integrated with Koch's ERP, also allows for the advance checking of the invoice based on the delivery appointment. Thus, any documentation error is corrected even before the truck leaves for delivery, mitigating delays or slow unloading in the yard, in addition to reducing returns.

Financial Security and Access to the Company

“We now have efficient management within the appointments, including the receipt X financial flow, also allowing us to balance the volume of payments based on the yard flow, without overloading any of the fronts,” reinforces the executive.

With the automation of yard management, traditional identification is no longer necessary when entering the distribution center. The supplier receives a password upon confirmation of the delivery appointment, which must be presented for access to the yard. “We know exactly who to expect and when they will arrive, having visibility of the entire process. This guarantees security in all stages of yard management,” concludes the executive.

Among the results reported by its clients are a reduction of over 50% in loading and unloading time and a 50% increase in the volume of receipts in the yards, in addition to agility in checks, precise store supply, and automatically generated performance indicators that feedback into the operations.
